Equinor: low pressure project on Asgard field
(CercleFinance.com) - The partners of the Asgard field licence have decided to invest just under 1.
4 billion Norwegian kronor (about 140 million euros) to develop the field and implement the Åsgard B low-pressure project, Equinor announced today.
Aker Solutions will be responsible for the Asgard B modification works for the low pressure project, via an EPCI (engineering, procurement, construction and installation) contract.
The Åsgard field in the Norwegian Sea has already produced some 2.8 billion barrels of oil equivalent since its opening in 1999. The transition to low pressure production should result in a better exploitation of the field, Equinor says, which aims to extract 60% of the hydrocarbons from the reservoirs before the field's closure.
Low pressure production is scheduled to begin in 2023. The field's licence is currently shared between Equinor (operator) 34.57%, Petoro AS 35.69%, Vår Energi AS 22.06% and Total E&P Norge AS 7.68%.
