Equinor: shuts fourth platform in response to strike
(CercleFinance.com) - Norwegian oil firm Equinor said on Monday it was closing an additional fourth oil platform in the North Sea because of a strike by offshore workers that started last week.
The company said 54 members of the trade union Lederne are currently on strike at the Gudrun, Gina Krog and Kvitebjorn platforms.
"The Valemon field must be shut down because it is linked to Kvitebjorn," the company added in a statement.
Production at the Johan Sverdrup platform continues, but 43 members of Lederne have been on strike at the oil field since Wednesday, Equinor pointed out.
The strike is the result of a breach of mediation in the wage talks between the employer organisation Norwegian Oil and Gas Association and the trade union Lederne, the group said.
