Equinor: makes new oil discovery off Norway
(CercleFinance.com) - Equinor said it has made a profitable oil discovery in the Oseberg Vestflanken area off Norway, adding more output to this huge project of the Norwegian continental shelf.
The well was drilled and the discovery will soon be put on stream via a new, unmanned and remotely operated platform, Equinor said.
Oseberg is one of the big "elephants" of the Norwegian continental shelf.
At the end of 2017, Oseberg was the third largest oil producer in the region, having produced around 2.9 billion barrels of oil.
Original development plans were based on an oil production of just 2 billion barrels.
