Statoil: awards vessel upgrade contract to Aibel
(CercleFinance.com) - Statoil has awarded Norway's Aibel a contract to upgrade a floating storage vessel for use in the Norwegian Sea, the oil group said on Thursday.
The contract is worth 1.3 billion Norwegian kronor (about 135 million euros), with the ship scheduled to be completed at the turn of the year 2019/2020, Statoil said.
The storage vessel will be prepared for extended operation on two new field developments in the Norwegian Sea.
This means that the boat, which came onstream in 1997, is being upgraded for another 20 years of operations.
