Statoil: to change name to Equinor
(CercleFinance.com) - Statoil will propose to change its name to Equinor, a mix of "equilibrium" and "Norway", to support the company's development as a broad energy company, the oil firm said on Thursday.
The new name will be proposed to shareholders at its AGM on 15 May. The Norwegian government, as a majority shareholder, supports the proposal and will vote in favour of the resolution, Statoil said.
All its five employee unions back the proposal too, the group said.
