Statoil: extends Caspian Sea agreement until 2049.

(CercleFinance.com) - BP, Statoil and other partners will make a total payment of 3.
6 billion dollars to the Azerbaijan government as part of a new production sharing agreement which will last until 2049.

BP, Statoil, and other oil giants suchs as Chevron and ExxonMobil today signed an amended and restated agreement relating to the Azeri-Chirag-Deepwater Gunashli (ACG) field in the Caspian Sea.

BP is the the field's current operator and will remain so under the extended deal.

Statoil originally entered the project in 1994 with an 8.6% share.

Since 1994, when the deal was first signed, the ACG field has produced 3.2 billion barrels of oil.
