Signify: wants to take advantage of halogen prohibition
(CercleFinance.com) - Reacting to the ban on halogen lamps in France, which will come into effect in France on 1 September, this Monday Signify points out energy and cost savings achieved through the transition to LED lighting, products in which the former Philips Lighting is specialised.
As a result, some LED bulbs now have 15 times longer lives and consume 80% less energy than equivalent halogen bulbs, Signify says. This could represent at least 125 euros per year savings per household.
The phased ban on halogen bulbs demonstrates the EU's commitment to reduce energy consumption and the carbon footprint. The switch to LED bulbs will not only enable households to reduce their energy bills, but also to have more choice in the colours, quality and design of bulbs, says Philippe Mineur, head of consumer marketing.
