Philips Lighting: plans to change name to 'Signify'
(CercleFinance.com) - Dutch lighting group Philips Lighting plans to change name to "Signify" while keeping the historic Philips brand for its products, the company said on Friday.
The change satisfies a contractual requirement with ex-parent company Philips, which provides for a name change within 18 months after Philips loses its controlling interest.
However, the group will continue to use the Philips brand under an existing licensing agreement.
The company's renaming still has to be approved by shareholders at its annuel general meeting, which is scheduled for 15 May.
