(CercleFinance.com) - Dutch financial group ING said on Wednesday that it made a net profit of 1.
37 billion euros in the second quarter, up 6% from 1.29 billion euros in the same period a year ago.
The bank said the performance was driven by a continued improvement in interest margins, higher commission income and a one-off gain from the sale of an equity stake in the real estate run-off portfolio.
ING's had 36.5 million clients worldwide in the first six months of the year, of which 10.1 million are considered as "primary" customers.
The group said it would pay an interim dividend of 0.24 euro per share for the first half of 2017, which is equal to that paid for the first half of 2016.
ING shares are currently down 0.6% at 15.8 euros in Amsterdam.
