PostNL: warns 2017 operating profit at lower end of guidance

(CercleFinance.com) - Dutch mail firm PostNL said on Monday that it expects its 2017 operating income to be at the lower end of its previous forecast range, prompting the shares to drop by over 5% in Amsterdam.

While the group still expects full-year underlying cash operating income to be between 220 million and 260 million euros, PostNL expects to finish the year "towards lower end of guidance range," it said.

The company points out lower-than-expected performance in its international businesses and the faster-than-anticipated impact of earlier Authority Consumer and Market (ACM) measures.

The ACM recently required PostNL to grant postal operators in the 24-hour bulk mail segment access to its network.

In the first six months of the year, underlying cash operating income fell 11% to 96 million euros.

However, first-half revenue inchead up by 1% to over 1.7 billion euros, with e-commerce growth continuing to report strong growth.

Listed on Euronext Amsterdam, PostNL shares dropped 5.3 percent at 3.8 euros after these numbers.
