Euronext: battle with LSE to takeover Oslo Børs?

(CercleFinance.com) - According to the British newspaper The Evening Standard, the London Stock Exchange (LSE), the London Stock Exchange's historic stock exchange operator, is also reported to have its eyes on Oslo Børs, obviously in competition with Euronext's intentions.

The Evening Standard understands that the LSE, whose merger with Deutsche Börse failed in 2017, has mandated the US Citi bank to "evaluate" how to complete a merger with the Norwegian financial operator.

This would obviously upset Euronext, the stockmarket operator of Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, Lisbon and Dublin, which offered 625 million euros (145 Norwegian kronor per share) to buy Oslo Børs, and has requested backing from the majority of Oslo Børs' shareholders.

However, Oslo Børs has not yet decided, with its board of directors set to issue an opinion by the end of February.
