Euronext: cash volumes slip in May
(CercleFinance.com) - Yesterday Euronext announced volumes exchanged in May 2018.
Last month, the average daily volume traded on cash markets slipped 1.3% y-o-y (compared to May 2017) to 8.5 billion euros. However, volumes were up 8.2% in "sequential" terms, i.e. compared to April 2018. Over the first five months of the year, volumes are still up: +10.6% to 8.5 billion euros as well.
Activity on ETF index funds fell by 4.4% in May to 295 million euros.
Average daily trading volume of derivatives rose by 24.5% y-o-y last month, while in FX, where activity has recently been boosted by FastMatch, the trend was flat (+0.2% y-o-y).
