Gemalto: launches a hardware security module.
(CercleFinance.com) - Gemalto announced on Wednesday evening the launch of the industry's first hardware security module (HSM) to include partitioning as an advanced security feature.
"This new capability enables financial services companies to simplify encryption operations using a single HSM module that is capable of supporting dozens of security applications and protect sensitive transactions and payment information," the digital security specialist said.
Each encryption partition works as an independent HSM. In other words, financial institutions can encrypt more data and protect a wider range of financial transactions without having to deploy a number of HSMs. As a result of this partitioning, financial companies benefit from tremendous flexibility in moving the keys in the cloud environment, maintaining control and ownership of their encryption keys, and running several cloud-based payment applications under the same HSM.
