Unilever: warning on growth in 2019 sanctioned
(CercleFinance.com) - The Anglo-Dutch consumer goods group Unilever announces that it expects underlying sales growth to be slightly below its target in 2019, which was in the lower half of its multi-annual target range of 3% to 5%.
This is the result of challenges over the quarter in certain markets, including the economic slowdown in South Asia, one of our largest markets, in addition to difficult business conditions in West Africa, Unilever explained.
Unilever expects FY 2020 growth of under 3% in H1 and underlying sales growth in the lower half of the multi-year target range.
The market has clearly frowned on this news, with the share down around 5% in early trading on Tuesday.
