TomTom: forms HD mapping partnership with China's Baidu.
(CercleFinance.com) - On Wednesday Dutch navigation company TomTom and Chinese Internet giant Baidu agreed to team up to develop high definition (HD) maps for autonomous driving.
Their collaboration on the development of a global HD map service will combine TomTom's solutions and Baidu's expertise in HD map-making and artificial intelligence (AI).
Baidu will leverage TomTom's real-time map platform to improve HD map-related technologies used in China.
TomTom said it has now completed the expansion of its high definition (HD) map product to cover all roads in Western Europe, representing 175,000km of roads across 19 countries.
