BinckBank: 'positive' about the start of 2018

(CercleFinance.com) - Dutch online broker BinckBank said it was "positive" about the start of 2018 after ending 2017 with "strong" quarterly earnings.

BinckBank, which operates in the Netherlands, Belgium and France, said in a statement that its fourth-quarter adjusted result after tax grew to 10.7 million euros from 8.6 million euros in third quarter.

Over full-year 2017, profit was up 13% at 34.4 million euros.

Total income from operating activities grew by 1% to 38.7 million euros, while the number of transactions remained broadly stable in 2017 from 2016, at 7.7 million.

Chief Executive Koen Beentjes said the group's organisational infrastructure has been improved, providing a "stable foundation for our core activities and the development of new initiatives."

"It is still too soon to see the results of our new propositions reflected in the financial results," the executive said.

BinckBank shares have risen by up to 1.4% to 4.4 euros on Monday, outperforming the AMX, Amsterdam's midcap index, which is currently down 1.6%.
