Aegon: Q1 net income up 7%

(CercleFinance.com) - Aegon shares are resisting somewhat in Amsterdam (-1.
2% - half the market's fall), after the insurance company reported a 7% increase in Q1 2022 net profit to 412 million euros, in part thanks to a capital gain made on the sale of its Hungarian business.

Operating profit also increased 7% to 463 million euros, "supported by an improvement in claims experience in the US, the positive contribution from growth initiatives, and increased fees from higher equity markets".

"The execution of our strategy and the implementation of our operational improvement plan, as well as the actions we are taking to strengthen our balance sheet keep us on track for delivering on our strategic and financial objectives," the Dutch group said.
