Airbus: first Eurostar Neo satellite to be launched
(CercleFinance.com) - Airbus has announced that the first of its geostationary Eurostar Neo satellites is ready to be shipped to Cape Canaveral for launch: Hotbird 13F will be positioned at 13 degrees East with its sister satellite, Hotbird 13G, which will be launched later this year.
With increased payload capacity and more efficient power and thermal control systems than the previous generation, the Eurostar Neo duo will replace the three Eutelsat satellites currently orbiting at this location.
The Airbus Eurostar Neo platform has been developed under the European Space Agency's partnership projects. Airbus' geostationary communication satellites have accumulated more than a thousand years of successful operation.
