Airbus: partnership in flying taxis in Japan
(CercleFinance.com) - Airbus announced on Wednesday that it has entered into a partnership with Japanese helicopter operator Hiratagakuen to study the feasibility of launching a transport service that is based on its CityAirbus NextGen flying taxi project.
Under the project, both groups plan to set up a simulation model of potential routes for the electric city aircraft (eVTOL) in the Kansai region, Hiratagakuen's home base.
Issues such as the concept of operations and the equipment needed to ensure safe flights will also be considered.
An initial demonstration flight is planned by the end of the year.
Hiratagakuen already operates a fleet of 16 Airbus helicopters (14 H135 and two) for emergency medical service missions, as well as personnel transport, flight training and maintenance activities.
