Airbus: Biomass forest sensing satellite taking shape
(CercleFinance.com) - Airbus has announced that the structural model of Biomass - the European Space Agency (ESA) satellite dedicated to the study of forests - has been completed at its site in Stevenage (UK).
Due to the pandemic, the assembly of the satellite's mechanical structure could not be completed as planned. The Airbus team then had to set up a digital solution in April and May last year, in order to facilitate its collaboration with ESA and suppliers, ensuring continued progress in its development.
The structure was therefore completed in the second half of 2020 and the equipment's integration on the structure modeling platform was finished in early January 2021, Airbus said.
The structural model is now at Airbus' site in Toulouse, for its mechanical test campaign.
