Airbus: 34 satellites to be launched for Oneweb
(CercleFinance.com) - Airbus announces that 34 satellites for the OneWeb constellation are ready to be launched from Baikonur, Kazakhstan.
OneWeb intends to launch the 34 satellites at 9:42 p.m. (GMT) on Thursday 6 February/2:42 a.m. (local time) on Friday 7 February.
The OneWeb constellation will provide global connectivity with 650 initial satellites. OneWeb's mission is to provide affordable broadband Internet connectivity everywhere for everyone by 2021, the group said.
After this first launch from Baikonur, OneWeb plans to launch around thirty satellites with Soyuz rockets every month.
This launch will be a major step forward for OneWeb - a step closer to its aim of improving global connectivity. These 34 satellites will join the six that are currently in orbit, Airbus added.
