Airbus: BelugaXL receives EASA certification

(CercleFinance.com) - The BelugaXL has received certification from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), opening the way for its commissioning by the start of 2020.

The plane received its approval following an intensive flight test campaign during which BelugaXL made over 200 flight tests, totalling more than 700 flight hours. In all, six aircraft will be built between 2019 and 2023, gradually replacing the current fleet of BelugaST planes.

The BelugaXL provides an additional capacity of 30%, with the plane 7 metres longer and one metre wider than Its predecessor, the BelugaST.

With a maximum load of 51 tonnes, the BelugaXL has autonomy of 4,000 km (2,200 nm).

The BelugaXL is equipped with Rolls Royce Trent 700 engines, flying to 11 destinations in Europe, thus strengthening its industrial capabilities and enabling Airbus to meet its promises.
