Airbus: partnership with Safran in vertical flights
(CercleFinance.com) - Airbus Helicopters and Safran Helicopter Engines are joining forces to prepare for the future of vertical flights, with a view to the European research program, "European Horizon," which is set to be implemented over the next ten years.
The companies have signed a letter of intent to formalise their intentions to jointly demonstrate new technologies that can significantly reduce both CO2 emissions and noise levels from future vertical takeoff and landing platforms.
Various technological options will be explored, including different levels of electrification, more efficient gas turbines, alternative fuels and advanced engine architectures to reduce the noise footprint of turbines.
