Airbus: helicopter contract extended in Australia
(CercleFinance.com) - Airbus says it has received a five-year extension from the Australian Defense Department to the lifelong support contract for the Australian Army's Tiger Armed Reconnaissance Helicopters (ARH).
"More than 200 full time positions will remain in Australia to carry out this very important work supporting the Army Aviation Australia-wide, including the creation of apprenticeships in Darwin," the group said.
To date, the Australian Army's fleet of 22 Tiger ARH has flown over 30,000 hours, it being particularly deployed for both daytime and nightime surveillance missions. In all, 181 Tigers have been delivered worldwide, with a total of over 115,000 flight hours.
