Airbus: A330-800 completes maiden flight

(CercleFinance.com) - This morning at 10:31 am the first A330-800 took off at Blagnac, Toulouse, France, for its first flight over southwest France.

The MSN1888 aircraft will conduct the flight tests prior to its certification.

The A330-800 certification program includes approximately 300 hours of test flights, paving the way for its certification in 2019.
Its brother - the largest member of the A330-900 family - recently completed its development and certification testing program, which validated engines, systems and cabin operations - both in flight and on the ground.

Both versions of the NEO - the A330-800 and the A330-900 - will respectively seat 257 and 287 passengers in a three-class seating configuration. They are powered by the latest-generation Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines.

The A330 is one of the most popular families amongst large aircraft, with over 1,700 orders made by 120 customers. Over 120 operators worldwide fly more than 1,400 A330s.
