Airbus: JetBlue commits to A220 order
(CercleFinance.com) - Airbus today announces that the low-cost US company JetBlue has become the first buyer of its new aircraft renamed A220, thanks to the signing of a memorandum of understanding for 60 firm orders of the A220-300 model.
In addition, Jetblue has converted 25 of its current of Airbus A320neo orders into A321neo orders. Jetblue's A321neo and A220 will be equipped with Pratt & Whitney's GTF engines, Airbus said.
The A220-100 and the A220-300 models cover the 100-to-150 seat market segment. It will serve the global market for smaller capacity single-aisle planes, which is estimated to reach around 6,000 aircraft over the next 20 years.
