Airbus: inaugural flight of 'neo' version of A330.
(CercleFinance.com) - Shortly before 10 am this morning, the first A330neo took off for its maiden flight from Toulouse Blagnac airport.
Prior to its entry into commercial use, both versions of the aircraft are expected to be certified in 2018 and 2019.
The A330neo is the modernised version of the European jet engine's long-haul jet. Marketed since July 2014, the A330neo, which has been re-engined and fitted with "sharklets” (specialised wingtips), enables Airbus to reduce fuel consumption per seat by 14% compared to the aircraft's previous generation.
