Unilever: names new CEO for US ice cream brand

(CercleFinance.com) - Matthew McCarthy, a 21-year veteran at Ben & Jerry's parent company Unilever, has been named as new CEO of the Vermont-based ice cream maker.

McCarthy has a bachelor's degree in politics and French from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and has MBA in marketing from the Zarb School of Business at Hofstra University.

At Unilever, McCarthy created Growing Roots, an organic snacking brand that has a mission to support urban farming in deprived areas.

He replaces Jostein Solheim, a 25-plus year Unilever veteran who was in charge of the business for eight years and who was promoted to executive vice-president for foods and refreshments at the group's US headquarters.
