Spotify: alliance with Shopify in merchandising
(CercleFinance.com) - Spotify, the world's leading music streaming company, announced on Wednesday that it will team up with the online shopping platform Shopify to offer merchandising for artists.
Under the terms of the deal, artists on Spotify will now be able to refer their listeners to a Shopify outlet where they can buy CDs and records, as well as related merchandise, such as hats and T-shirts.
Shopify highlights the ease of use of its platform for artists, who will be able to print products on demand.
However, it didn't seem to have much impact: the share closed down over 1.5% yesterday.
