Spotify: buys podcast technology firm Megaphone
(CercleFinance.com) - Spotify, the world's largest music streaming service, said on Tuesday that it is buying Megaphone, a podcast technology company providing ad-insertion for publishers and targeted ad sales for brands.
Spotify said Megaphone connects podcasters and media companies with tools to monetize and measure their audio content. Its so-called "targeted marketplace" platform offers listener reach and measurement, amongst other things.
The acquisition follows Spotify's launch, earlier this year, of its own podcast ad technology that the Swedish company plans to make available to third-party podcast publishers.
The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
