ArcelorMittal: targets net zero emissions by 2050
(CercleFinance.com) - ArcelorMittal announced on Wednesday that it has set itself the goal of becoming CO2-neutral in terms of its net emissions by 2050.
In a statement, the steelmaker said that it has implemented a new roadmap that includes supplying its steel production sites with hydrogen and using circular carbon, such as residual biomass, to replace fossil fuels.
To date, ArcelorMittal had set itself a target of reducing its emissions by 30% by 2030, although only for its European operations.
Similarly, the CO2-neutral target the group had set itself for 2050 was simply for Europe.
