Aperam: EU opens enquiry into takeover of VDM
(CercleFinance.com) - The European Commission has opened an in-depth enquiry in order to analyse Aperam's planned acquisition of VDM relative to EU rules on sector concentration.
The Commission is concerned that this concentration may reduce competition in the supply of nickel alloys.
Aperam and VDM are the two leading producers of nickel alloys in Europe and the merger could reinforce VDM's already strong position in the market - in particular regarding flat nickel alloy products.
