SES: capacity contract with China's CGTN
(CercleFinance.com) - Satellite operator SES announced on Wednesday that it has signed a new capacity agreement with China Global Television Network (CGTN) that will enable the Chinese television group to broadcast three high-definition (HD) channels in Europe.
The multi-year agreement, which covers in-orbit resources at Astra's 19.2 degrees East neighbourhood, covers GTN News, CGTN Documentaries and CGTN in French.
These three channels will continue to be offered in standard definition (SD) before a definitive switch to HD, which is scheduled for the end of the year.
