SES: extends contract with Westdeutscher Rundfunk
(CercleFinance.com) - SES announces that the German broadcaster Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR) has extended its partnership to obtain an additional transponder for HD programming at the Astra 19.
2 degrees East orbital position under a multi-year contract.
From 3 March, viewers in North Rhine-Westphalia will be able to receive all of WDR's programming in HD quality, including "WDR Lokalzeit", a programme produced by WDR's many local studios.
Viewers who do not own an HD-compatible TV set will continue to receive WDR's programming in SD format until the end of the SD transmission, the satellite operator said.
