SES: will expand its O3b satellite fleet
(CercleFinance.com) - SES has announced that it is ready to expand its O3b fleet with the arrival of four MEO satellites in Kourou by their launch in March.
"The new satellites will enable SES Networks to meet exponential demand for reliable fibre-like connectivity worldwide," the group said.
The four O3b satellites in Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) will be orbiting nearly 8,000 kilometres from Earth. These satellites have been designed by Thales Alenia Space.
SES will launch four additional satellites into the constellation with Arianespace in 2019, thus arriving at a total of twenty O3b satellites. The first twelve O3b satellites were launched by three Soyuz launchers in 2013 and 2014.
