RTL Group: first-half in line; guidance confirmed
(CercleFinance.com) - European broadcaster RTL Group reported in-line first-half results and confirmed its full-year guidance as it increases investments in content and technology.
Revenues rose by 4.2% to 3.2 billion euros, in line with expectations, while EBITA was broadly stable at 538 million euros, despite higher programming and video-on-demand (VOD) investments.
Profit for the period rose by 21% to 443 million euros.
RTL - which is controlled by German publishing group Bertelsmann - confirmed its guidance for full-year revenue growth of between 2.5% and 5%, excluding foreign exchange rate effects.
It expects earnings before interest, taxation, and amortisation (EBITA) to fall slightly (-2.5% to 5%), due to higher investments in programming and VOD services.
"Guidance is unchanged with upgrades to Fremantle offset by softer than expected digital growth," analysts at UBS commented.
The RTL stock is currently up 0.6% at 42.9 euros in Frankfurt.
