Nissan Motor: sacks Carlos Ghosn

(CercleFinance.com) - It's now official: Nissan Motor has said that its board of directors, which met in Yokohama, first recognised the importance and confirmed that its long-term alliance with Renault remained unchanged, and said it would do its best to minimise the potential impact and confusion in the day-to-day operation of the Alliance, after Carlos Ghosn's arrest.

Nissan's board of directors has also decided to remove Carlos Ghosn from his position as chairman (he has been in office for almost 20 years) and director, along with the dismissal of Greg Kelly.

The creation of a special commission responsible for working on the group's governance and the remuneration of directors are also being studied.

Finally, an advisory committee chaired by Masakazu Toyoda, also including Keiko Ihara and Jean-Baptiste Duzan has been set up. It will be responsible for proposing candidates for the position of board chairman.
