Toyota: production hit by semi-conductor shortage
(CercleFinance.com) - Toyota apologises for the repeated adjustments to production plans due to the shortage of parts resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
As such, the carmaker says that its overall production plan for June is approximately 850,000 units (250,000 units in Japan and 600,000 units overseas). It says that due to the impact of semiconductor shortages, it has adjusted its production schedule by tens of thousands of units worldwide from the number provided to its suppliers at the beginning of the year.
The average monthly global production plan from June to August is about 850,000 units and 9.7 million units for FY 2023.
Semiconductor shortages, the spread of COVID-19 and other factors complicate forecasts, although it will continue to make every effort to deliver as many vehicles as possible to clients in a timely manner.
