WPP: to increase investments in India
(CercleFinance.com) - British advertising giant WPP said on Thursday that it intends to increase its investments in India, a country that the group considers as an "important market" and a "key growth region.
"
As part of the plan, WPP's media investment management unit, GroupM, will take full ownership of the Indian mobile marketing agency Madhouse, from its current 50% stake.
The move comes as mobile marketing and media consumption is seeing exponential growth in India, WPP said.
Madhouse has offices in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore; its clients include some of India's leading brands.
In addition, WPP's Sudler, Wunderman and Y&R - which now operate as joint venture agencies with Rediffusion - will be developed as wholly-owned agencies, the group said.
