Glencore: copper output up 12% in third quarter

(CercleFinance.com) - Miner and trader Glencore on Friday reported a 12% rise in third-quarter copper output, in particular boosted by growth at its Katanga African mine.

Own sourced copper production reached 1,063,100 tonnes over the quarter, the group said, up 116,600 tonnes compared to the same period in 2017.

On the other hand, own source zinc production fell by 5% to 786,000 tonnes as a result of the sale of African assets to Trevali Mining.

Coal output rose 6% to 96.7 million tonnes, driven by the acquisition of interests in two Australian mines and the recovery in Australia from weather-related disruption.

At 10:45, the London-listed Glencore shares were down over 1.8%.
