Eni: launches production of sustainable aviation fuel
(CercleFinance.com) - eni announced that it has launched the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in order to contribute significantly to the decarbonisation of the aviation sector in both the short and medium term.
Eni's SAF will be produced exclusively from waste and residues, in line with the company's strategic decision not to use palm oil from 2023.
Eni plans to double its current biorefinery capacity by 1.1 million tonnes/year over the next four years with the aim of reaching 5-6 million tonnes per year by 2050.
SAF will have its place in the product mix, with Eni aiming to reach production of at least 500,000 tonnes per year by 2030.
Eni shares are currently up almost 2% in Milan.
