Eni: to jointly develop hydrogen projects with Enel
(CercleFinance.com) - Italian energy heavyweights Enel and Eni are working together to develop green hydrogen projects that will reduce direct emissions as well as supply bio products to clients, the companies said on Wednesday.
Together, the firms are examining two pilot schemes aiming at supplying green hydrogen to Eni's refineries and biorefineries, they said.
Under the deal, the electrolyzers fed by renewable energy and the refineries will be at the same location, avoiding the construction of complex transport infrastructure to move hydrogen around.
Both these projects are expected to start generating green hydrogen by 2022-2023, Enel and Eni said.
