Eni: makes final decision on Nigeria LNG plant expansion

(CercleFinance.com) - Eni said on Friday it had made a final investment decision for an expansion project of a plant in Nigeria that would help it increase production of liquefied natural gas.

The project will lead to additional LNG production from a new liquefaction train and enable debottlenecking of existing trains, making the facility - in operation since 1999 - one the world's most important LNG gas hubs.

This development, expected to begin production in 2024, will increase annual production capacity to more than 30 million tonnes per year (Mtpa) from the current 22.5 million tonnes.

Eni holds a 10.4% stake of the project. Other partners are Nigeria's state oil company NNPC (49%), Shell (25.6%), and Total (15%).
