Eni: successfully drills Norwegian Sea well

(CercleFinance.com) - Italian energy group Eni said on Thursday that it has successfully drilled an appraisal well located 180 km from the Norway coast with local partner Equinor.

The well was drilled to a vertical depth of 3,437 metres below sea level, confirming the project's commercial viability with volumes in the range of 50-70 million barrels of oil equivalent, with further potential, it said.

Eni has an 11.5% stake in the license, while Equinor - the operator - owns 64% and the state-owned company Petoro, the remaining 24.5%.

Eni has been present in Norway since 1965, with current production standing at approximately 160,000 barrels per day through its subsidiary Eni Norge.
