Generali: sells Belgian business for 540 million euros

(CercleFinance.com) - Generali will sell its Belgian business activities for 540 million euros, which is part of the Italian insurer's "optimisation of its geographical footprint" and capital allocation.


Athora Holding will buy these activities, a Bermuda-based group is specialised in life assurance.

Generali believes that the Belgian divestment will boost its solvency ratio by 2.6% and will result in the recognition of a capital gain of around 150 million euros. The deal is expected to be finalised in the second half of the year.
