Ryanair: to appeal against State aid to competing airlines
(CercleFinance.com) - Ryanair announces that it is going to the European Court of Justice to challenge the State aid schemes from which Air France and SAS have benefited from in France and Sweden respectively.
"The French airport tax deferral and the Swedish loan guarantee were introduced at the beginning of the Covid-19 crisis with nationality conditions," while other EU airlines were excluded, Ryanair underlines, which castigates this aid as "discriminatory" and "incompatible" with the single European market.
According to the low-cost airline, this aid distorts the rules of the game by providing support to "chronically inefficient" national airlines.
"We hope that the Court of Justice will overturn the European Commission's approvals of the French and Swedish schemes," Ryanair states firmly.
