Accenture: 'net-zero' project with Microsoft

(CercleFinance.com) - Accenture and Microsoft announced on Wednesday that they will work together to help British companies accelerate their transition to net-zero carbon emissions.

The consulting and software giants said they plan to set up a joint venture, called "Avanade", to enable energy groups and utility service providers in the UK to transform their business models and reduce the costs of their CO2 reduction projects.

Accenture and Microsoft say that they plan to use tools such as open data - digital data that can be freely accessed and used - and artificial intelligence.

The UK is the first G7 country to legislate for a net-zero target for carbon emissions by 2050.
