Vodafone: successful 5G trials with Ericsson in India
(CercleFinance.com) - Ericsson announces that it has achieved a technology milestone in ongoing 5G trials conducted in India, in Pune, with Vodafone Idea (Vi), reaching a maximum download speed of 5.
92 Gbps.
Vi's new speed record was achieved on a single test device during its trials conducted on a combination of medium and high band (mmWave) 5G test spectrum.
Given the growing consumer demand for immersive media and video streaming services, the 5G speeds we have demonstrated will help us prepare for mobile broadband speeds and increased network capacity requirements from customers, Vi said.
A mixed reaction from the market: Ericsson shares are slightly up on this news (+0.8%), while Vodafone shares are down - about double this (-1.6%).
