easyJet: to upgrade Airbus A320 fleet

(CercleFinance.com) - This morning Airbus announced that easyJet intends to upgrade its fleet of Airbus A320s with a multi-million pound investment in DPO (Descent Profile Optimisation) and CDA (Continuous Descent Approach).

By combining the use of these advanced technologies, easyJet will reduce fuel consumption while optimising the trajectory of all its flights, it said.

DPO and CDA enable aircraft to descend from cruising altitude using only engine thrust at idle, thereby reducing fuel consumption and associated emissions (CO2, NO and noise).

The DPO and CDA also maximise the time spent at an efficient cruising level by not starting the descent too early and by eliminating the levelling off stage.

Following the upgrade, which will be in place by the end of 2023, easyJet's entire fleet of over 300 A320 Family aircraft will be equipped with DPO and CDA for compatible aircraft.

However, the share has failed to take off on this news today; it is currently down over 1% in London.
