easyJet: teams up with Air France-KLM to take over Alitalia?
(CercleFinance.com) - According to the Italian daily Il Sole 24 Ore, Alitalia, the Italian airline which is in financial difficulty could be whetting the appetite of a new takeover project from a consortium formed by easyJet, the British "low cost" airline, and the Franco-Dutch company Air France-KLM.
Until now, the newspaper says, Lufthansa seemed to be in the lead to takeover Alitalia, although the terms set out by the German airline fail to satisfy the Italian state.
